Aswan is a destination on Egypt's Nile cruise and tour routes, home to Philae Temple (Agilkia Island) and Abu Simbel Temples (day trip). The best time to visit is October to April.
Aswan is Egypt’s southernmost gem — quieter, gentler, more African than the rest of the country. The Nile narrows here between granite cliffs and pink-tinted islands. Felucca sailboats glide past Elephantine Island, the Nubian Museum tells the story of a culture older than the pharaohs, and the Old Cataract Hotel (where Agatha Christie wrote Death on the Nile) still serves afternoon tea on its terrace.
Dedicated to Isis. The entire temple was relocated stone-by-stone to Agilkia Island by UNESCO in the 1970s to save it from the rising waters of Lake Nasser.
Ramses II's twin temples, carved into the mountain and famously relocated 65m higher when Lake Nasser filled. Interior alignment lights the inner sanctum twice a year (Feb 22 & Oct 22).

Mild winters (15–28°C), hot summers (30–42°C). Less humid than Luxor, very dry. Cool evenings even in summer.
