About Cairo

Welcome to Cairo

Cairo is where every Egypt trip begins. Home to the last surviving Wonder of the Ancient World (the Great Pyramid of Giza), the newly opened Grand Egyptian Museum (the largest archaeological museum on earth), the timeless Khan el-Khalili bazaar, and a Nile riverside that comes alive at sunset. Most visitors spend 2-3 days here before flying south to start their Nile cruise.

The city is enormous (20 million people) and chaotic in the best way — Cairo’s chaos is part of its charm. With a good guide and the right neighborhoods, it’s also surprisingly walkable, friendly, and full of food worth flying for.
